Maughan weaves a masterpiece with Veiled Voyage about the lengths Alana will go to protect the ones she loves and the fire she finds within herself along the voyage. The suspense and twists within the story leave you shocked, bringing you dynamic and complex characters that you'll fall in love with, and the romantic chemistry is delicious!

Jennifer has written an action packed debut with so many twists and turns it's hard to keep track!
We follow our protagonist Alana who is determined to be a Ranger despite being human and not meeting the requirements. She is brave and strong-willed but unfortunately puts her trust in the wrong people and ends up on a pirate ship forced to fight for her life or die. The book moves at a quick pace, the action non-stop. The romance is just the right amount and filled with tension. Also the perfect amount of steam for a fantasy! It ends on a cliffhanger (Which was a bit of a shock) so I'm eager to read book 2.

​From start to finish, the writing draws you in and hooks you. The plot is unpredictable and there are plenty of little tidbits to try to figure out what is going to happen next (99% chance that you won't figure it out!). I think this is so successful also because the characters are dynamic and constantly evolving. There is constant change which keeps the reader on the edge.
The pacing of the book is also PERFECT! It's high action with the right amount of down time in between. The Author gives the reader just enough at the right moment to keep the character and story arcs developing in a seamless way. Honestly, it is *chef's kiss*
